ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 3070 Ti AMP Holo 8GB GDDR6X Review

Zotac GeForce RTX 3070 Ti AMP Extreme Holo is the company's most premium RTX 3070 Ti offering, targeting not just gamers, but also overclockers trying to beat RTX 3070 Ti records. It's backed by NVIDIA's new performance-segment chip with a monstrous VRM setup that's from a segment above and a cooling solution that could handle an RTX 3090. This Summer, NVIDIA augmented the higher end of its GeForce RTX 30-series "Ampere" graphics card family with the new RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti to try and fill some gaping holes in its lineup, especially when faced with strong (and unexpected) competition from the Radeon RX 6800 series and flagship RX 6900 XT. The RTX 3070 Ti AMP Holo graphics architecture heralds the second generation of NVIDIA's path-breaking RTX technology, which combines 2nd-generation RT cores that have hardware acceleration for more real-time raytracing effects, 3rd generation Tensor cores that leverage sparsity to improve AI inference performance by an order of magnitude, and the Ampere CUDA cores that offer concurrent INT+FP32 operations and increased IPC. The design goal has been to minimize the performance impact of raytracing on game performance. Helping matters here is also NVIDIA's popular DLSS technology. The RTX 3070 Ti AMP Holo is the company's premium custom-design offering based on NVIDIA's latest addition to its RTX 30-series "Ampere" product family. The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and last week's RTX 3080 Ti are additions to the higher-end of NVIDIA's product stack, in response to competition from AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series "Big Navi" graphics cards. The RTX 3070 Ti in particular is being launched to close the price-performance gap between the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080, as the RTX 3070 is embattled on two fronts, from the RX 6700 XT and RX 6800. NVIDIA could have been lazy by simply cutting down its latest GA102 silicon, but was prudent instead. Rather, the company decided not only to max out the GA104 silicon, unlocking all of its 6,144 CUDA cores, but also gave the chip 35% faster 19 Gbps GDDR6X memory, as opposed to the 14 Gbps GDDR6 on the original RTX 3070. Combined with the slightly higher clock speeds and power limits, these changes could be NVIDIA's answer to AMD competitors. The RTX 3070 Ti AMP Holo architecture represents the second generation of NVIDIA's RTX real-time raytracing technology, and introduces second-generation RT cores that double ray intersection performance and feature fixed-function hardware for even more raytraced effects, third-generation Tensor cores that leverage the sparsity phenomenon in AI deep-learning neural nets to increase inference performance by an order of magnitude, and the Ampere CUDA core itself, which significantly increases performance by leveraging concurrent INT32 and FP32 math operations. The RTX 3070 Ti AMP Holo features the company's highest state of tune for this GPU. The chip runs at a boost frequency of 1830 MHz boost, compared to the 1770 MHz reference. The HoloBlack cooling solution combines the cooling prowess of a large triple-fan aluminium fin-stack heatsink with the aesthetics of a large ARGB LED diffuser the company dubbed "Spectra lighting system." In this review, we show you if it's worth forking out a little extra for this card over the Founders Edition.

Gigabyte GT 710 instructions failed to mention the BIOS. My monitor did not work at first because when I booted, it was plugged into the new card. I pressed "delete" a few times hoping the computer would open BIOS so i could shut down, plug back into the onboard video card and then enter BIOS to disable the onboard video, and default to the PCIe slot. Once I did that, we were in business. Someone who is not familiar with BIOS might suspect the card does not work...don't forget to change your BIOS when you use onboard video card BEFORE you install the card. Once I got past that hiccup, it was fine. What i do NOT like is these companies now send a card without a CD or installation software and drivers. Not everyone has internet these days Yes hard to believe, But i purchased this for someone who has a home desktop computer, when i installed the card i was stunned that there were NO drivers or installation disk in the box. Companies are getting so cheap. I had to drive home over 40 miles D/L the software place it on a CD drive back to install the software for the card to run. Totally ridiculous. Gigabyte GT 710 card on the other hand works great now that i have it installed., Make sure you install the software that comes with the video card. The windows default software technically works... but it is no good. Use the included software and then check for updates to assure you have the video card running at its best. Installation of software and drivers took forever. Once installed ran machine for about an hour. Next use was online gaming where this crashed and sent me to a black screen after only 10 minutes of online online multiplayer gaming. It has been returned and my older BFG 550 Ti is back in running like a champ. Asus GeForce GT 730 2GB GDDR5 Review As the global semiconductor shortage continues on, manufacturers are taking this opportunity to offload some of their older stuff. Now Asus has (via momomo_us) recently and quietly launched a new model of the GeForce GT 730, a graphics card that dates back to 2014 and was far from being one of the best graphics cards even back then. Still, the new Asus GeForce GT 730caters towards professionals that are looking for a graphics card to enable multi-monitor productivity, which does give it at least an excuse of relevance even today. The graphics card comes equipped with four native HDMI 1.4b ports with HDCP 2.2 support and drives monitors with resolutions up to 4K (3840 x 2160). Built with Asus' Auto-Extreme technology, the GeForce GT 730 comes in a single-slot design with dimensions of 5.8 x 4.1 x 0.7 inches (148 x 105 x 18mm). Not that we expected it to be bulky, but this means it should have no problems fitting inside small-form-factor (SFF) systems. Like countless other GeForce GT 730 models before it, Asus' latest rendition features a passive cooling system to keep your system's noise low. This particular variant of the GeForce GT 730 utilizes GDDR5 memory, therefore, the GK208 (Kepler) silicon powers the graphics card. Nvidia has already announced its decision to drop Kepler support in the upcoming GeForce R470 driver, which is slated for August 31. However, this only applies to Game Ready updates, performance, new features and bug fixes. Kepler owners will continue to receive security updates until September 2024. The GeForce GT 730 isn't a gaming monster, but it does serve decently as a stopgap solution for processors that lack integrated graphics. Asus' specs for its Kepler-powered graphics card point to 384 CUDA cores with a 902 MHz boost clock in gaming mode and a 927 MHz boost clock in OC mode. It also features 2GB of 5 Gbps GDDR5. The memory runs across a 64-bit memory interface with the graphics card ending up with a maximum theoretical memory bandwidth of 40.10 GBps. One potential strength with releasing a new model of an older card is that the GeForce GT 730 has very low requirements. For one, this graphics card is perfectly happy residing on a PCIe 2.0 slot. It's rated for 38W so no external PCIe power connectors are required. Asus' recommendation for the GeForce GT 730 is a 300W power supply.
