Take your gaming to the next level with the PULSE AMD Radeon RX 6800 as the beating heart of your PC! Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT 16GB GDDR6 Review The Sapphire RX 6800 XT Nitro+ is perhaps the most traditional of the three custom cards we're looking at today. It's not quite as large and certainly not as heavy as the ASRock card, but the cooling still gets the job done and the card runs cool and quiet. It's actually lighter than AMD's reference card, despite being slightly larger physically. The Nitro+ measures 310x134x55.3mm, so it's a bit shorter than the ASRock card but still occupies 2.7 slots. However, it only weighs 1232g, over 500g less than the ASRock, and 350g less than the AMD reference design. (AMD's card measures 267x120x49mm and weighs 1500g, if you're wondering.) Sapphire RX 6800 XT often has three different models of each GPU. The base model is the Pulse, the Nitro+ is a step up and offers a higher factory overclock and more RGB lighting, and sometimes a Nitro+ SE kicks things up another notch. The top GPUs may also get a Toxic variant, which boasts the highest overclocks and pulls out all the stops, often with extreme pricing. Due to the limited quantity of Navi 21 GPUs currently available, Sapphire doesn't have a Pulse 6800 XT right now, or a Toxic. Maybe those will come in the future, but currently all of Sapphire's 6800 XT cards are from the Nitro+ line. Sapphire RX 6800 XT main difference between the Nitro+ we're looking at and the Nitro+ SE is that the SE has RGB fans. If you want extra bling, the SE might be what you're after. Our take is that Sapphire actually has a smarter RGB setup than many other GPUs, as the fans typically face the bottom of the PC case and aren't even visible. The Nitro+ has all of its lighting on the 'top' of the card (which would face the side of your PC case, right where the window would be) and also puts an RGB icon on the back of the card (which would face upward in your typical case). There's a light strip on the top along with the Sapphire logo, and while it's not quite as in-your-face as other cards, it gets the job done. Sapphire RX 6800 XT is also the only company to specify a higher 350W TDP on its Nitro+, though all three custom cards use similar amounts of power in practice. No surprise there, since they're all rated at 2360 MHz boost clocks (and can often exceed that speed in games). Sapphire also recommends an 850W power supply. With a pair of 8-pin power connectors, plus the PCIe slot, the Nitro+ has access to 375W of power and uses nearly all of it. Overclocking does push the card beyond 375W, but the extra power comes from the 8-pin PEG rather than the x16 slot, which is good. Even overclocked, the highest PCIe slot power we measured for the Nitro+ was only 45W. Sapphire also has new fans with an integrated rim to improve static pressure, and the thermals and noise levels are very good. One extra that Sapphire offers is its TriXX software suite, which now has a new trick that's perhaps work checking out. TriXX Boost leverages AMD's own RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening) and supports upscaling of content. In most games (specifically, games that don't detect your monitor's native resolution and then internally scale from that), TriXX Boost lets you create a custom resolution that will then get scaled to the normal native resolution, and the sharpening helps to avoid the normal blurriness. How does it perform? At 4K, upscaling from 85 percent resolution (3264x1836) to 4K, we measured performance that was anywhere from 20 to 30 percent higher than native. Did it look worse? Using screenshots and comparing, sure, there was a slight loss in fidelity, but it’s not something you'd really notice in motion. 20-30 percent higher fps, though? Yeah, that was very noticeable. It's perhaps not as sophisticated as Nvidia's DLSS technology, but it's worth considering for relatively minor upscaling of around 10-15 percent. Interestingly, because of TriXX Boost, Sapphire specifically discourages end-user overclocking and doesn't support it via TriXX. You can check the fans and tweak the lighting, but overclocking requires some other utility. Considering overclocking can void your warranty and cause instability in pursuit of usually 5 percent more performance, toying with resolution scaling generally delivers far more noticeable performance improvements. AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT 16GB GDDR6 Gaming OC Review Sapphire NITRO+ AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT 16GB GDDR6 Gaming OC Graphics Card is also present with a totally new lineup, meet the incredibly impressive Sapphire Radeon RX 6950 XT Sapphire Nitro+ Pure. The factory tweaked product side does deliver when it comes to cooling. The year 2022 is roughly halfway and AMD now revamps its RDNA 2 graphics card portfolio with a new family of graphics cards. All are rehashed and thus reconfigured products and that means this is not a new generation of cards, but rather an incremental improvement based on the same RDNA 2 architecture. The main difference here is the usage of quicker memory. All three graphics cards include up to 18Gbps GDDR6 memory chips, up from 16Gbps on non-50 versions. Some AIBs will configure the 6650 XT at 17.5 Gbps though with OC models configured at 18 GBps. All graphics cards also use a comparable GPU seen from their predecessor but will arrive with increased memory and boost/game clock rates. As such the AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT will sit above the Radeon RX 6900 XT, and the Radeon RX 6750 XT will sit above the Radeon RX 6700 XT. of course the Radeon RX 6650 XT will sit above the Radeon RX 6600 XT. Consider this to be AMD's own 'SUPER'; however, the shader and RT count remain identical without any big advancements. The lineup is intended to provide performance enhancements ranging from 5-to-10%, and memory will play a significant role in meeting these performance objectives. Once again, the new lineup would be as follows:Sapphire NITRO+ AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT 16GB GDDR6 Gaming OC Graphics Cards, featuring Sapphire's high-end NITRO+ series and the company's overclocking-focused TOXIC line. These new graphics cards are quite comparable to their RX 6900 XT siblings, with identical heatsink designs and physical factors. Check out the white variation for the RX 6950 XT Nitro+ PURE that we test today. This graphics card has RGB lit fans and largely white heatsinks. Like the original RX 6900 XT Nitro+, this variant has three power inputs, with two 8-pin PCIe power connections and a single 6-pin PCIe power cable. The specifications of Sapphire's new Radeon RX 6950 XT graphics cards are complicated as the card uses a triple BIOS mode, one TRIXX software-based, the other a performance and silent mode. Take your gaming to the next level with the PULSE AMD Radeon RX 6800 as the beating heart of your PC! Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 6800 OC Gaming 16GB GDDR6 Review It is time for the first customized Radeon 6800 review, no not the XT, I meant that non-XT. In this review, we test the Sapphire Radeon RX 6800 NITRO+ based on a custom PCB, custom cooler, and increased clock frequencies. Do you need a silent 6800? Look no further, you found it. Based on a custom PCB, custom cooler, and increased clock frequencies. It has been a long wait for AMD and sure, us. When the first NAVI based graphics cards were launched, they became well respected. The 5600 and 5700 series does offer some good performance. But during that launch everybody was already talking about one thing, where is Big Navi? It's now November 2020 as we write this and here we are, the world completely changed. Next to everything COVID-19 related, in the world of graphics technology, a new dynamic was added, Raytracing. Or, I should say DirectX Raytracing (DX-R). NVIDIA was pioneering two years ago with their RTX 2000 series already, and AMD made the call to delay that for the original Navi GPU. As the graphics landscape changed somewhere done the line, so this the roadmap for AMD change. Microsoft and Sony consoles embedded with AMD technology revealed that Raytracing was going to be supported. And that did set the trend for the desktop graphics card we see announced. AMD announced three graphics cards based on Big Navi, they all hold the very same GPU, just binned and somewhat 'weakened'. Interesting to learn is that the new GPUs are fabricated on an optimized 7nm node derived from TSMC.RX 6800 OC Gaming cards will be PCIe 4.0 interface compatible. The number of hardware-accelerated RT cores is set up in a 1:1 creation towards the CU count. The cards released all fall into a high-end to the enthusiast-class category, and are priced as such. The flagship Radeon Radeon RX 6900 XT is to cost 999 USD, the RX 6800 XT costs 649 USD, and the Radeon RX 6800 will cost 579 USD with performance levels matching the completion RTX 3070 running up-to the RTX 3090. It does that by many architectural improvements, but sure, increasing transistor real-estate comes into play as the shader processor count has nearly doubled up over last generational products. Three SKUs with a very similar design, all based on the same chip I stated, and that statement stands. This 16GB GDDR6 graphics card will get the full 80 CUs enabled. Multiply that with 64 shader units, and you'll count 5120 shading/stream processors. This card gets 16 GB of GDDR6 memory based on a 256-bit memory bus. So that means 512 GB/s of memory bandwidth and, in fact, would be equal to the bandwidth of the RTX 3070. The TDP listed is 300 watts. This fully enabled Big Navi based chip has a whopping 26.8 billion transistors. The clocks are the same as the 6800 XT at a 2250 GHz boost and 2015 MHz game clock. According to AMD (below), this card will be able to battle with the GeForce RTX 3090. The card will become available on December 8th for 999 USD. The 6800 XT will get 72 CUs multiplied by 64 shader units is 4608 shading processors. This card gets 16 GB of GDDR6 memory based on a 256-bit memory bus, not to confuse with the new GDDR6X memory NVIDIA is using for RTX 3080 and 3090. So that means 512 GB/s of memory bandwidth and, in fact, would be equal to the bandwidth of the GeForce RTX 3070. The TDP listed is at 300 watts for this product. The 2250 GHz boost clock is spectacular. However, the more average game clock is listed at 2015 MHz. New is a 128 MB infinity cache, which we need to explain in our final review, of course. The card is to battle the GeForce RTX 3080 in performance. This graphics card will cost you a sweet sum of 649,- USD with an availability date of November 18th.RX 6800 OC Gaming derivative thus is the Radeon RX 6800; this actually the same card as the 6800 XT, but let's call this somewhat neutered and presumably the favorite card of voice for many BIOS potential tweakers. In its reference design, it is more restrained with 60 CUs and thus 3840 Shading processors. It's 1815 MHz game clock and 2105 MHz Boost clock frequency is a notch lower as well. All three cards released by AMD and their board partners will receive GDDR6 memory, 16 GB of them. Again that's for all three cards. So that means a 256-bit wide memory bus. However, AMD has got a few tricks up their sleeves architecture wise, as they added a big phat cache into the GPU. We'll talk more about that later though. power consumption wise we're talking anywhere from 250 running up-to 300 Watts, these are values that sit a bit better than team green where an RTX 3090 can reach 350 Watts even. All cards are DirectX Ultimate compatible, and that naming is just a placeholder for a few extra feature levels such as DirectX Raytracing (DXR), Variable Rate Shading (VRS), Mesh Shaders, and Sampler Feedback.SAPPHIRE has its Radeon RX 6800 series graphics cards ready as well and is to offer five new cards on the way, the RX 6800 NITRO+ SE, RX 6800 NITRO+ (non-SE), RX 6800 PULSE as well as XT versions of the same cards. The cards all use triple-fan coolers and have a 2.7-slot design based on dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors on all cards as well. The more premium product is the SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 6800 NITRO+ "Special Edition" with the sole difference that it has been fitted with RGB lighting through the fans.
